Arcana: the downfall

“Well this stuff is good.”
He said, already digging in.

“So who’s ready for tomorrow? Finally putting an end to all this.”

Tortwig raised her hand. “Me! For sure.”
Frostvin nodded. “Yeah. Nordum’s acting too shifty for my taste.”

Oliver quietly sat, “thank you for the meal,” he says to Frostvin

“No problem!”

“They’re not bad people. At least not that I remember.”

“I wish I could go.”
Melissa said with a humph.

“Closing off an entire kingdom is shifty.” Frostvin said. “nice people or not.”

Tortwig thought. “Maybe they’re scared?”

“Scared of what? And if they were I think they would have told the other kingdoms?”

Tortwig nodded. “Yeah, true.”
Frostvin swallows a bite. “They could have been threatened.”

“Still, its too clean. Not one survivor? Absolutely no one made it out? What if something wiped out the whole kingdom? For all we know opening those gates could unleash a horrible plague on to all of Arcana.”

“perhaps it’s inhabitants were all willing to do so?”

“Really? All of them? Of the thousands of people that live in that kingdom, every single one of them agreed to lock up amd stay put? I don’t think so.”

“got a better explanation?”

“Mass plague or some other natural disaster wiped the place out. What people were left closed the gates to protect the rest of us.”

“what plague could do that so quickly?”

“I don’t know. Maybe some sort of magic plague, or Hedat had too much to drink one night. The plague is only one example. It could be any kind of disaster.”

“I doubt it.”

“Makes more sense than every member of a population in the thousands making a unanimous decision.”

“touche”

“Whatever happens… I got a real bad feeling about it.”

Oliver simply nods in response
