Ehlek's Murky Reviews: 75133 Rebel Alliance Battle Pack

Welcome to Ehlek’s murky reviews, where the number one lurker on this board tells you his worthless opinion of a set along with amateur grade photos. To kick off this series, We have a set I picked up some time ago, the Rebel Alliance battle pack.

This is proof I took these pics a while back.

Proof I made none of that up.

All the cool bells and whistles on the back.

The box comes in the standard battle pack size. However, one major change has been made concerning integrity. The little thumb punch in on the back of the box is gone. This is fine by me as it involves no cardboard being separated to open and it is harder for people to steal the bags in the box at the store.

Booklet complete with annoying fold.

The set features a standard small booklet with a length to match. In addition to the instructions, a minifigure checklist is included.

Be honest. Who here actually checks off the thing?

Main Build

Scenery not included

Most battle packs drop the ball on the actual build. Often it is a weird, made up vehicle or a derpy turret. That said, I like this speeder. A lot. It has that classic brown color scheme which I respect. The thing can really be used by any faction in Star Wars.

Black support also not included

The inclusion of lance pieces does make the front a tad long, but it keeps the triangle plates intact. Necessary evil. The stud shooter on the side is fine, as the things make sense as heavy firepower. I do question why the other side lacks one, firing both at once would have been pretty satisfactory.

Moar Speederz!

From the top, the thing does look a tad wide near the thrusters, but I can tolerate it as this is more of a heavy assault speeder in execution. The printed control gage honestly rubs me the wrong way. No clue why. Maybe the difficulty a rider would have looking at it? I have digressed. The main draw of the speeder is…

Epic Fanfare

It seats two. Such amazement. Seriously, I like two-seaters. Have since the first Clone Trooper Battle Pack when I was a wee eel. It makes up for the large size and the back turret is a nice feature.

The Figures

The main reason battle packs are bought. The armies that fight the battles. I am swimming with excitement, so let us begin.

Major Mcstern

This guy is the low point of the set. To be honest, the rebels are my least favorite faction because they often don’t work as mass produced generics. And this guy screams generic. Between his stern face and Hoth hat I already dislike, I feel this dude was a waste. I would have preferred a female rebel.

The outfit is good though

That said, his torso and leg printing is good, all figures have good printing. I also like that the torsos and legs fit together in different configurations. He boasts both the light tan legs and torso.

Bad Cane

Our other light tan shirted rebel is much cooler. He is a member of the classic Duros species. His sky blue head is complimented by his detailed red eyes. I also like his smile, as the only other Duros we have in Lego is Cad Bane, who is not the nicest guy.

Yep. Jetpacks.

I suppose I have not mentioned that these figures are based on the new Star Wars Battlefront game last year. I have not played that game, and my distaste for EA’s practices combined with my lack of skill with shooter games probably means I won’t ever. That said, the game did give us these nice jetpacks as equipment characters can use. From the footage I have seen, they are pretty tight. Who can say no to jetpacks?

The helmeted one

Yeah, I have little to say about this guy. He’s alright. The A-wing helmet in brown is nice. So is the vest.

More Jetpacks
And the jetpack is cool. I forgot to mention the neat tile printed on the back. It is superb detail for something small.

Best. Rebel. Ever.

Lastly we have a Rodian rebel. I like Rodians. They have a very cool design with the green colors and the spiked crest, not to mention the colored eyes. This guy boasts the dark tan vest.

Said vest looks good from behind.

Overall, all of the rebels here have a good aesthetic that can work on multiple environments, and have quite the diversity.

The bane of every battlepack

Ah, stud shooters. They are oversized, use easy to lose ammo and have that grey firing lever that clashes with the rest of the blaster yet no one else brings it up as a con when it drives me crazy! Sorry, lost control. These blasters are the one thing that I dislike, and many will agree. Lego really should be nice and include a mix of guns.

Table Scraps

Don’t go in expecting good spare parts. You get very little. The blue stud is nice, I guess.

Final Score
I like this set. You as a reader have likely gathered that. It does everything a battle pack should. A cool selection of figures and a solid craft make this something I will recommend in a heartbeat. Even with stud shooters, I still have to praise this set.

That is a nice speeder and it goes along with my point that any faction can use brown.
