Empire of Insects

Scalthus tapped his foot impatiently.
“So are we going or not?” He said to the others, slightly irritable.

“I agree with the creep this time!” Eleanor replied.

“Alright let’s head on folks. To the capitol!”

OOC: Uhm…
IC: Capry continued forwards towards the capitol.

Sheshes followed behind keeping his hand/arm wrapped tightly around the shaft of his staff

Eleanor, Felicia, and Leo quickly follow behind.

The Holos at the gate drew up their attention as a considerably large and rather unorganized party began drawing towards the gate. Suspicious of any numerous groups, especially one with so many unique characters, they barred the way inside, looking down in suspicion. Consir was the only one they were actually concerned with however, as his size was shockingly close to that of Sopter.

“What is your intent?” One of the Holos asked unkindly to the assembled band, possibly distracting them from the Weaver quickly approaching behind them.

The Cicada looked like he was pondering Sopter’s words. “Enforcing tariffs like this might lead the neighboring nations to believe we’re desperate.” He clicked. “If we could find a way to acquire the embassy, it might reinforce our position in the world economy.”

“At the same time,” He clicked, adjusting his wing. “The luminary ambassadors from the north are rather close allies with Grales, and making a power move as such will likely strain our alliance.” He spoke in an extremely casual tone, as if he wasn’t really there in the room.

However, if Sopter was listening well enough, he could hear the faint voice of the Emperor coming from far below…

Emperor Yuburu descended the stairs in the back of the throne. The room below was incredibly well furnished, far more than the throne room had ever been. He bowed slightly and gave a report of the meeting, specifically that of Sopter’s expressions.

Clicks echoed from the back of the room. With another bow, the tired Yuburu wobbled over to a silver container and drew back the lid to reveal a dead firefly, still branded with the mark of the capitol. Satisfied there was no one else present to witness him, he began to eat.

“We…uhhhhh…” begins Evelyn struggling to find a non-suspicious way of expressing her motives

Scalthus shrugged, awkwardly twitching his head again.

Consir lifted his torso up, “as royal ambassador I am returning due to the new king, to celebrate his rise, and morn his father’s passing.”

“Yes, it could make us look despite, however it truly depends on how high the tariffs are,” replied Sopter, “if low enough we should be able to pass it off as just a new policy with the new regime.”

Buisiness…” stated Okiri “… Of the unfinished variety, I would also like to seek my fortune here as a professional bodyguard and/or security escort!” declared the shimmering Beetle.

“I’m simply in search of adventure!” Izbec called from the back of the group.

“Yeah and we’re protecting him!”

“We’re here to try and catch the guy who killed the last emperor!” Eleanor said, before being hushed by Felicia.

The first Holos glared suspiciously at Consir, unimpressed by his display. “We need better reason that ‘you’re a a stranger’. Do you have any official verification?”

The second Holos, however, was focused entirely on Okiri. “Are you saying you wish to join the Holos?”

Okiri grinned “I’m sayin’ the death of the Emperor affected my Buisiness… for the worse. An’ I want to find the fellas responsible and ‘Reprimand’ them!

“I’m just trying to entet the the Imperial Guard.”

“The ‘imperial guard’ is the Holos.” The beetle grunted. “And with an attitude like that, you will never be a Holos. But the Shogunate might appreciate putting your attitude in its place…”

The other Holos glanced at Eleanor. “Really? You want to avenge the death of the emperor?” He pointed one thin hand at the party. “Why do you think you are remotely capable of enacting justice; repaying the death of his majesty when the doer has evaded yet the entire country, and even the Holos?”

Please don’t misunderstand… I’m not lookin’ to avenge the emperor or enact justice. I’m lookin for payback plain an simple. As for how they’ve managed to evade you, at a glance I’d say you’re lookin’ at a few people on the inside and possibly a larger organisation pulling the strings from the shadows; Criminal Underworlds, Rivalling Nations etc.” Okiri rests his hand on the pommel of his sword.

“It does not matter if I can, what matters is that I must.” She tells him, looking him dead in the eye. “Someone killed the emperor. That is something that can not be forgiven, and something that they must be killed for. I have made it my purpose to avenge the late emperor and make sure the same fate does not befall his son, after so long of having no purpose, no one to protect. It is something I need to do.”

Leo watched Eleanor speak, waiting for her to mess something up, grab her, and run.

Felicia, meanwhile, who already had not been looking directly at the guards, averted her eyes further once she heard what Eleanor said. Not out of shame, mind you.
Out of hurt.
