well, me trying to find a legit explanation for this is that Michael Rose’s reason for these images is that his role in the bionicle movies isn’t solely as a visual development artist but as an art director, which in this case, is to direct the other concept artists about the look and feel of the movie, which the artists from Michael’s direction can then create the actual art/assets. the webs on the top was literally Alien Xenomorphs.
However, doesn’t really explain these images because Transformers was in 2007 and Mask of Light was made in 2003. Also this image

I was thinking a few days ago about the decomposition that occurred with the bodies of the Toa Mata in their canisters… and how they were like two and a half times taller than the matoran at the time. I’m not sure if the matoran can smell, but Tahu probably smelled pretty ghastly, and still had some open sores or rotten parts by the time that he arrived in Ta-Koro.
No wonder Jaller’s guard was terrified of him; to us, he’d be a twelve-foot-tall zombie.

So, the Mask of Life can only manipulate things that are alive or were once alive, right? And Bara Magna was the site of a mass war that went on for decades at the very least, right? On Bara Magna, the mask pulls together a body for Mata Nui out of… sand. An inorganic material. Or so we thought at the time.

The Flash reset the DC Comic universe when they had the Bionicle License. Flash killed Bionicle. Or at least the comics

Onua doesn’t use his chainsaws once in MoL. He pulls them out at the beginning of the final rahkshi fight but never actually uses them. though admittedly, any use of chainsaws in a kids movie would be considered too violent…maybe they had scenes of him using them but they got cut
