How would you make a Female MOC?

What character in Bionicles does look a woman than in your opinion?

Your krongiwongi that you’ve made the conscious decision to show for the world for praise (and, in the process, critique.)

You don’t need to, though. If you say it’s a female, people will believe you. And, they will probably like the character more due to it being a strong female character.

Why do you think people like the Protector of Earth so much? Because even though she has a freaking chest gun, she’s still a female.

It doesn’t only apply to MOCs, just look at Samus and Captain Phasma. When Samus was revealed to be a female at the end of Metroid, people flipped out and now she’s perhaps one of the most famous and recognizable female video game characters. Captain Phasma doesn’t look overly feminine and she’s probably one of the coolest [looking] new Star Wars characters.

What I’m saying is that it doesn’t need to look like a woman to get the point across. If you say it’s female, then it is, and if it doesn’t look like one, then there are people who find that to be a really interesting character trait, thus creating more appreciation for your character.

If you want to see how you can make something look female, but not overdo it, Samus is yet again a great example. Take a look at the original art for the Power Suit and compare it’s shape to the newest look from the Amiibo figure. It looks female, but it’s not overboard. Try and copy that subtlety in your MOCs and people will like them.

Are you saying looking female means the character is weak?

I disagree with this greatly.

Not at all, I’m just saying people generally take an interest in female characters that don’t look female.

But I’m trying to say that they don’t always need to portray that they are female. [quote=“JoeScibelli, post:186, topic:15642”]

To each his own. I personally am disappointed they didn’t do more with her.

Yeah, she doesn’t really have a character.

Back on topic, I absolutely agree that a MOC being female doesn’t need to be the first thing you notice.

I feel a MOC being male or female only adds a small bit of interest, when I view a MOC I’m more interested in the technical bits (the build, the creativity, the pieces used) and the aesthetic (what unique features does this MOC have that set it apart from other MOCs).

I will admit, I am usually more impressed with distinctly female MOCs done well because I am aware of the amount of skill it takes to not make it look horrible.

Alright guys, this topic is about how you would make a Female MOC, not discussing what is sexist and what isn’t. Let’s keep things calm and cool, and continue the discussion.

I think it’s less about being offensive and more so exaggerating and focusing solely on sexual characteristics, and the stupidly large focus on them by many people.
Many mocs noted as male, design wise, have typically male traits, and female mocs, rather than following the actual anatomy some people tend to just throw a bust and rear on and call it a day at that.

Typically the point of giving something proportions that are based in gender differences is to make the moc more realistically resenble what it’s portraying. If that’s the goal in mind then adding in the characteristics in a poorly made fashion that are disproportionate renders the point worthless. In which case you should probably stick to androgynous designs. However, some mocs are indeed entirely based in exageration, personally that’s not my thing but I will tell you, that’s a hard thing to do correctly and make look good.

Making a female ninja moc, since ninja’s arent buffy dudes who yell out “I’M RIGHT HERE! FACE ME YOU COWARDS!” I kinda need some help on how skinny or not in some areas, Sadly I cant post pictures, my phone is dead so sorry :expressionless:

for limbs it might look good to use CCBS bones without shells and use tires to cover the axles, used like in the upper arms though.

While this works, bare in mind that it severely limits articulation.

Not exactly, if you use this tire it will but only really if you have a shell over it.

While if you use this part it will still give you nearly full articulation but they’re really hard to get on over the ball and to the axle.

Well if that were to be the case, then we’d all be building Mata builds or Inika builds. By that logic, why MOC at all since it wouldn’t be canon?

It’s fine you hold that opinion, but my response is that it ruins the very concept of MOCing.
