Hm… The face don’t seem to be that bad…
IMO Maul’s head sculpt is pretty great. Not %100 sold on the grimace, seeing as he was mainly straight-faced in the Phantom Menace. As for the function, I am curious as to how it will end up working; I can’t quite figure out what I’m looking at, although it appears his arms are fixed at 90 degrees. That would really suck.
I’m also interested to see how this collar piece fits onto the build; is it a new chestpiece, or does it simply slide in between the other pieces?

I’m pretty sure it isn’t attached to he chestplate, it looks like it could be attached to the gearbox cover though, it’s hard to tell though.

I just noticed that the torso itself is a new mold, seeing as they cut the neck area, to make room for the collar.

These new set designs look awesome!
The “new” set design looks average at best. Look, I’ve been building these guys for years, this is yet another hero factory 2.0 era construct with five new pieces that are not worth 25-30 dollars.
Now, having said that, there is a silver lining. The five new pieces add a whole new layer to the building system. The horns on maul’s head are horns uniquely designed for his scale and do not exist anywhere else in the element catalog. The collar guard appears to be hollow and thus repeatable and allows a whole new texture to exist. The shoulder armor is yet another windscreen shaped element that adds the least potential to the system but still has applications. For instance, when I built Samus’ helmet, I realized that the praetorian guard shoulderpad has a v-shaped slot molded in the top. Well, maul’s shoulderpad has a hollow half circle molded in it’s top which you could take advantage of in the same way. Take four of those shoulderpads with the open area facing forward and build a pair of eye holes with them.

idk, It still looks like the old CCBS torso since the 2015 had a small carve since the beginning.
I’ve seen this mention times before, but it’s fairly true and should’nt be brought up again till the next 2 years.
It’s at that point where the figures lacks some unique building technique (if you exclude both vader and grevious) to justify the price and the closes thing from the “2.0 era” was 2015 Bionicle, the Toa lacked new armor molds and unique builds, but praised for aesthetic, function, and nostalgic reasons. Late 2015 Star Wars figures suffer that fate as well, but gave some complexity toward 2016, but still didn’t justify the value.
It’s also worth mentioning that these figures are overprieced due to the “one-time uses” of the head molds since it uses more plastic and detail than a regular mask.

You could shove eyes in there, spikes, hoses, whatever. Could even use them as fenders on a space rover.

There was a post on Eurobricks mentioning that the Walker and Super Battle Droid are going to be scrapped from a Lego World Club by mentioning them not ordering, so I guess were stuck with Darth Maul and 2 Solo figures if thats the case.

Azani cleared up that the rumor of them being cancelled was false, but mention to be a slow production of short.

I don’t want to link directly to the article, since it has leaked photos, but here’s the text from an article on rebelscum.com.
Whether you call them constraction (shudder) or buildable figures, this subtheme of the LEGO Star Wars has never really sat well with the bulk of collectors and fans, and the news that two new additions have been canned due to a lack of retailer interest has made any further debate a moot point.
Initially reported in late December, 2017, when a LEGO trade catalogue started to circulate, was the existance of two new buildable figure sets - 75538 Super Battle Droid and 75539 501st Legion Clone Trooper & AT-RT - which were to be released in August of this year.
The catalogue, which originated in Sweden, was an advance presentation of what LEGO would be displaying to the toy industry once the media had completed their coverage of the New York Toy Fair.
With the concept/design/approval/production/distribution cycle employed by LEGO taking about 12 to 18 months for licensed products these two buildable figures were almost at the point of commitment by the time the Toy Fair season started, and LEGO needed orders to be able to roll them out. Word is, however, that they didn’t get enough interest and both have been cancelled.
The rumour started on March 3rd when Eurobricks member Falconfan1414 posited “So I got some news apparently according to Lego world club none of the constraction figures got ordered by retailers so the battle droid and 501st Legion clone trooper were canceled [sic].”
Being an internet forum where everything is either true or false the statement was immediately jumped on by nay-sayers, yay-sayers and soothsayers and opinions were cast around willy-nilly until LEGO leaker Azani made it clear what his thoughts were:
"Nope. Sorry man, but not even slightly; total nonsense. I’ll be doing my best to make sure that this doesn’t start making the rounds.
First of all, that’s not what they said. Second of all, they updated their post over on VK.com with a statement that reads “Update: this is not correct” - three or four hours ago.
Third, I know for a fact that 75538 and 75539 are coming, at least in Europe, because they’re being listed online by many, many retailers. Not going to lie, it’s almost too many to count. All of the system sets are being listed as well."
However, as with all statements made on the internet, a counter-argument was quickly made when Sir von Lego, a well-connected and trusted source, stepped in to the fray:
"Both of these sets (Clone Trooper with AT-RT and Super Battle Droid) won’t see the light of a day: cancelled.
We will get another set as compensation, not a constraction one."
While researching the rumour Rebelscum has been contacted directly by Azani who told us:
“Unfortunately, I was also wrong. They are cancelled; I heard as much from one of my guys.”
Pressed for details it emerged that Azani’s source who confirmed the rumour attended Nuremberg Toy Fair and noted that these buildable figures weren’t even offered for viewing in the confidential display room either.
The debate on Eurobricks.com - and other corners of the Internet - is still raging.
Not withstanding the news that 75538 Super Battle Droid and 75539 501st Legion Clone Trooper & AT-RT buildable figures have been axed, Brick Fanatics has also picked up a thread that the entire LEGO Star Wars buildable figure line will be cancelled next year.
Whether the entire character and creature building system (CCBS) is being ditched is unknown, but as this method is a core construction technique to several proprietory themes - such as Bionicles and Hero Factory - it is unlikely.
With the recent Solo set description reveal coming eight weeks before their April 20th release indicates there is still a chance we could see a similar leak in June which could indicate a limited release, such as through a retailer exclusive.
Of course this is still speculative information until confirmed or refuted by LEGO through official channels
Hopefully this clears up a few things.

@Square I was mistaken in my inital assertion that 75538 (Battle Droid) and 75539 (AT-RT) were not, in fact, canceled outright. Now, I did have some pretty solid evidence to back myself up, and this pretty much never happens, but I’ll be the first to admit that I definitely screwed up there.

What would possess LEGO to market Han Solo in that pose on the back of the box?
Also when I had only seen the front leak I quite liked Han’s head mold, but once again, the back kind of ruins it for me. I probably will get it so I can see the head mold in person.
