The Persistence of the Human Spirit

Even as the world crumbles around it, even as we made it crumble, it persists. It survives. The human spirit doesn’t so much as waver.

This was fun to draw. For half of it, I wasn’t even sure what what I was drawing really represented. I started sketching it first after I finished reading 1984 for the first time, and even though they got to him in the end, the things Wilson said while he was being tortured really resonated with me. After looking back on this about halfway through to try to find out what I was drawing, it occurred to me that that was what it was, what it represented. It was humanity, in some odd way.
