I'm sure if you dove through every podcast episode we produced you'd be able to pick all the red flags.
The issue herein lies within the personas we established while recording a show versus our interactions with one another off recording. Jon had always adapted the persona of the uncaring "business larper" that so many people within the community described him as on air because it was entertaining and fun to act out. But I think after an extended amount of time acting that persona out each week for 7 years it started to become less of a persona and more his true personality. Perhaps he felt he didn't live up to the persona he adapted and because he played up his confidence and superiority so much he was desperate to make it a reality.
It's hard to say for sure what happened.
This revelation came as much of a shock to us as it did to many of you. I don't think anyone in TTV would have believed someone we had known for so long would be capable of this, and yet like you, with the information in hand it was very easy to look back and see all the warning signs that led to this.
Quite frankly, it's extremely disturbing to know this was going on under our noses.
I'm not sure how long Jon had been harboring his inner demons and when they decided to manifests and lash out at others- perhaps he had been this way the entire time. Regardless, after this incident I can confidently say I have no idea who the true Jon is or where his morals really lie.
The only thing I can say for certain is that everyone in TTV is happier now then we've been in a long time. There was a cancer festering beneath the surface that has finally been removed and its helped us grow a much better understanding of where we stand with one another and who we are as individuals. Together we'll work towards ensuring nothing like this will ever happen again.
