Here’s the general rule of thumb I’ve heard.

Half your age. Add seven. That’s the youngest person it would be socially acceptable for you to date.

What if you’re an odd number?

Round up if you want to play it safe, down it you’re feeling dangerous.

So…
My age. Lol

I always found that to be problematic. What if your 54? Then you’d be socially accepted to date a 27 year old, which is say is a stretch. Not to mention, half of 17 is 8.5, plus 7 is 15.5, and I met seniors who were in a relationship with freshmen when I was in highshcool.

It’s meant to be a rough estimate, mainly for younger people.

Not a stretch if you have money. That’s all I’m gonna say.

wouldn’t it be 34 according to the rule?

Whoops, forgot to add seven.

@Runa I mean, look at Patrick Stewart.

So if you’re two like me, date someone who’s eight

Uh, that would mean your 2 years old. Did you add 7? Also, while I’m not entirely sure just dating someone that young is illegal, I’d stay away from it, might attract some unwanted attention.

He said he’s two. (not that he really is.)

Personally, I can’t ‘date’ per say, but I can hang out.
I suppose there’s a difference.

Enormous difference, I was just talking about official American Law. I also missed his “two”.

Oh, yes.
American law.
Where an 18 year old and a 15/16 year old is considered wrong, because one is an ‘adult’ and the other is still a teenager.

It starts at 14.

But thats only if the two are intimate, dating is completely fine.

Yeah.
True

Personally, I think 1 to 2 years within your age is best.
But that’s just my opinion

If say that’s the best, with three being stretching it slightly.

Yeah
I mean, that’s like a 16 year old dating a 13 year old.
Stretching it sounds right

As an aside, has anyone else noticed women seem to be more atrracted to men older then them, and men seem to ne more attracted to women younger than them?

Huh. Now that you mention it, yeah.
