The Star Wars Battlefront Topic

I don’t remember anything wrong with it… is there almost no neck, and his chin kind of digs in to his body?

In DICE’s game, the lightsaber’s basic movements are limited to specific commands and capabilities, almost all inviolving lunging forward in some manner, instead of standing in one place and swinging your lightsaber.

Nothing major, aside from the fact that it’s the number one thing lightsaber wielders did.

Lol no, didn’t want to take a picture of my nightmares. :stuck_out_tongue: I have enough selfies to fill that position.

excited squeal intensifies

I’d imagine that’s supposed to give you an offensive edge on a battlefield filled with enemies wielding ranged weapons.

Isn’t there a block feature?

Well, what with BF2 having Force Push/Saber Throw/Force Lightning/Etc., I don’t see why anything needed to be changed. You’ve already got a working system people like, and if you can’t rip it off directly you could always do it indirectly instead of making a system that feels so wrong for characters like Darth Vader and such.

Well you see, BF2 had a block feature too. I haven’t played BFEA too recently, so I can’t recall how the block feature there works.

And there is the biggest problem with your argument. Yes, the old games had a lightsaber combat system, but those were the old games. People can’t seem to understand that because the new games are developed by a new studio things are going to be different. DICE couldn’t take the lightsaber combat code that Pandemic created in 2004-2005 and copy/paste it for use in their 2015 game. Pandemic closed in 2009. They’ve been dead a long time, and even if DICE could have used code from BFII in BFEA, I doubt it would have worked well.

Everything DICE built was from the ground up without any reuse of code or assets from the original games. Even if they had tried to completely mimic the original, everyone probably would have complained about it feeling “off” anyway.

BFEA has those too…

And IMO, that was trash. BFEA’s works really well.

What’s wrong with the system that’s in place? While playing as Vader, you can block some shots as you move forward to conserve health, then start butchering troops like in Rogue One. You can throw your blade at Rebels and still use Vader’s hand to block shots, and once the blade is back in his hands, use force choke to take out a dude. It doesn’t even annoyingly run off of stamina like in BFII.

You realize that you can use a controller’s triggers (or the equivalent on PC) to engage in combat and not just the shoulder buttons, right? While using the triggers does move you forward slightly, it’s something that would normally happen when you’re trying to hit a target that is probably wanting to avoid your humming blade of death. Your argument about standing in one place and swinging your lightsaber doesn’t make much sense, unless you’re referring to saber-on-saber combat, in which case, yeah, that system is still broken, but rarely comes up often enough to become a problem.

Left shoulder button on consoles. You have so much energy to block shots, and all of the shots flying toward you while that energy remains will be blocked.

Also, on the earlier topic of DICE listening to fans that @squeaverking brought up, they built BFEA off of community feedback as well. Basically everyone on the internet said “don’t make it a Battlefield clone” and that’s what they did. They made a much more casual and arcaidy experience with reduced map and server sizes compared to the originals. They did exactly what the fans wanted and made a new experience (lack of planets and other possible content like eras aside, mainly talking about gameplay here). Turns out though, that what fans wanted WAS a Battlefield clone and endlessly ripped on BFEA because they didn’t know what they wanted. Now that BFEAII is looking like a mix between the classic BFII and BFEA, most fans seem appeased.

That was in response to your comment the other day on community feedback and DICE.

And you still didn’t answer what you meant by the vague answer of just “Battlefield”. Sure BF4’s launch was an buggy mess but the fixed it and made adjustments based on feedback based on the community. Visceral did the same with Hardline, and DICE has again listened to feedback for BF1. Your answer doesn’t make sense.

Short teaser for tomorrow:

And some very annoyingly cropped footage of the customization (Leak):

Darth Maul vs. Yoda:

General news about the game, it has been confirmed that there will be star cards in the game, however I doubt that they will play the same as the previous game. Each class will probably have a selection of star cards to choose from, that no other class can use.

genuine shock on how this actually looks good to me

It’s going to be amazing! I’m super hyped for this, especially after hearing the sweet, sweet sound of Dee Bradley Baker and Mathew Wood as the Clones and Battle Droids. Sam Witwer as Maul is awesome too!

Dangit @Middlefingerstudios you beat me to it.

Also, OH MY GOD.
This looks absolutely amazing! I’ll be honest, I really wasn’t expecting Tarrful. (The wookiee at 1:05)

I don’t think that it’s tarrful, it may just be a specialist for the republic that they haven’t revealed.

I love what I’m seeing, and at the moment this is my most anticipated game of the year. The only things I’m not a fan of is that it seems to be cross era heroes, and I find it very immersion breaking to see Rey and Boba Fett run around clones and Battle Droids. Also I don’t like that the droids have the voices from The Clone Wars series, as I find that slightly annoying, but that’s a minor trifle.

Other than that I’m super pumped about this, even though I really like the previous game, I do feel that this is what it should have been from the beginning.

And all post launch content is confirmed to be completely free, which is great. That probably also means there will be microtransaction which I’m not so sure about. If they go the route of Titanfall 2 and sell skins directly I think it would be fine, but I suspect it’s going to be around star cards guess.

I honestly would’ve preferred Temuera Morrison’s voice for the clones, and the Ep. 1 voice for the battle droids. Hopefully you change the droid’s voices.

I’ve heard that the Alpha that was played at E3 was built specifically for. I bet the cross era heroes and weapons used were just to show off all three eras at once and that when the game comes out, everything will be era locked.

I highly doubt that’s something that’s going to happen.

The same guy has been doing the battle droid voice for 20 years, but as hes aged his voice has changed, they have also upgraded their pitching software a few times, that why the voice has gotten more cartoon like over the years.

YES! This got me super hyped as well. Now we just have to wait and see if clone legions will be introduced…

I can see where you’re coming from. However, it seemed to be locked to just the B1’s battle speech. The CIS “commander voice-over” sounds more like a tactical droid. Any ideas on who/what it’s really supposed to be?

Source?

Has it ever been confirmed that Matt Wood was the voice of the Battle Droids in Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones? As far as I’ve seen, he’s first credited as the Battle Droids starting with Revenge of the Sith.

It could be he’s just not credited for the voices in the first two prequels, but has he ever claimed to be the voice?

now there is one thing that has me especially worried

one of the things I loved about the old battlefronts is being able to fight on (almost) any planet in whatever era, if that’s not in the game for at least conquest, that’s gonna really suck

except for certain planets like geonosis, hoth and starkiller base of course

that said it’d be hilarious fighting as clones on starkiller base
