Dude, Robot Wars was British.
Perhaps it was (it definitely was), but taxes on importation from anywhere but England where 3 high 5 us, so we left because they wouldn’t let us robot fight with anyone else. It was just too high for them to do so.

This was the most disappointing thing I’ve ever seen in my life.
I wish they used the lucha underground method and just went all in on the kayfabe, ending this with one of the mechs exploding, killing the pilot inside as it cuts to his child swearing vengeance.
