Why are licenced themes takeing over?

In the last few years, lincenced themes have started to lead the market instead of original LEGO themes. The only original themes we have currently are Ninjago, Friends and Elves (I am not counting the Non Story themes such as City or Techinc). Why is this happening? The things that made LEGO so unique and popular are now suddently extinct. Were is Racers? Were is Power Miners? Were is Agents? Were is Pirates? Were is Space? And this can go on and on. Now all the LEGO market is domanated by Star Wars, Harry Potter, and they want to add OverWatch, also. Can you please provide me with a GOOD answer why this is happening?

It’s probably due too it being cheaper and easier to make a line based on something pre-exsisting instead of creating something from scratch.

Marketing will also be easier since lots of people already know or are familiar with licensensed themes.

You already created a topic about this; as such, if any members of the TTV cast would like to weigh in on the matter they could do so in your topic. Creating a separate topic in the Ask Category just makes it a duplicate topic, and as such it is closed.
