Arcana: the downfall

“They’ll make the perfect scouts. Observant, durable, and hopefully won’t draw too much attention. They’ll do great.”

“very clever.” Notes Oliver

“Thank you.”
Replied Edward.

“Though I suppose now we should all be getting some sleep. Omega Squadron, return to the hub and recharge for the night. Report to the lift in the morning.”

The six robots gave a salute and left the room.

“wouldn’t it be best to send them now as not to waist time?”

“I suppose. Though it would also be a good idea to have some in the feild with us. I’ll send half the squadron tonight and the rest will see us out.”

Edward snapped his fingers and the automatons returned.
“Change in plans. Hermes, Thea, Tethys. You three will be going ahead of us. Exit the lab and head for Nordum. If you can, return by morning and report what you’ve seen. Stay safe.”

The three salute and leave.

“The rest of you, charge for the night. You’ll be accompanying us on our way there.”
The remaining scouts saluted and left.

Oliver heads back to the dining room to rest

Edward retired to his bedroom. He put himself in next to Melissa, who was in a deep and peaceful sleep. And Alpha finally went to his charging base and powered dow for the night.

the next morning;

Tortwig woke up and left the library. Duo and Quadeo followed.

Frostvin broke the ice and walked into the dining room.

Edward awoke in his bed, happy to sleep in his own home again. He looked to Melissa who was still fast asleep. Edward then began his morning as he did every day. He got out of bed, dressed himself, and went to his personal shrine to greet Pian Ya.

Pian would be unavailable, due to other important things

Edward was saddened by this. His first morning home in weeks and he had to miss out on his favorite part of the day. Granted, this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened, but that thought didn’t help any.

Edward went to the bedroom. He woke Melissa, who quickly got out of bed. Alpha, Beta, and Delta all powered on, and together the group went to meet the others.

Frostvin got to work cooking a quick breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, and fruit.

Tortwig fiddled with her chemicals. She gave Edward a smile, her tail twitching.
“Morning!” She said cheerfully.

“Good morning.”
He said, though not quite as enthusiastically.

Melissa sat down at the table, ready to eat.

Frostvin brought out the food. “morning, guys.”
Tortwig looked at Edward worriedly, but didn’t do anything else.

Edward sat down next to Melissa, his air of mild melancholy persisting.

“Good morning dad!”
Melissa said before giving Edward a warm and cheerful hug. This brightened Edward’s mood considerably.

“Good morning Melissa.”
He said with a smile.

With that the two dished up their food and began to eat.

Tortwig served herself up and began to eat.
Frostvin sat down with a cup of tea.

The Hydra was bathing in the forge

“So, everybody ready for today?”
Edward asked the group.

Tortwig nodded excitedly, her mouth full of food.
Frostvin sipped his tea. “Yeah. Nordum’s got a problem. We’re gonna fix it.”
